FAQ
If you don't see your question here, reach out — we're happy to help.
No. CPA Acquire is a listing directory only. We do not broker transactions, represent buyers or sellers, negotiate terms, provide valuation advice, hold funds, provide escrow, prepare transaction documents, transfer client files, or facilitate closings.
Public listings are blind. We never display seller identity, firm name, street address, client names, employee names, tax IDs, or any uploaded PII. Confidential details are released only to buyers a seller approves.
Never. Sellers pay a simple monthly subscription to list. We do not charge success fees, referral fees, or commissions of any kind.
Public teasers show high-level, non-identifying information. Gated details are visible only after the seller reviews and approves your access request. Approval is at the seller's sole discretion.
It depends on the practice and the state. CPA ownership, attest, and independence rules may apply. CPA Acquire does not provide legal or regulatory advice — confirm requirements with your own attorney, CPA, and the relevant state board of accountancy.
In this product, sellers may upload only teaser documents intended for buyer review. You must not upload tax returns, client files, Social Security numbers, EINs, bank statements, payroll files, or any client-level records. CPA Acquire is not a secure data room.
No. Sellers are responsible for the accuracy of their listings. Buyers should independently verify all information during their own diligence.
Entirely off-platform. Once introduced, the parties handle diligence, negotiation, financing, legal documents, client-transfer and consent issues, regulatory compliance, escrow, and closing themselves with their own professional advisors.
CPA firms, tax preparation practices, bookkeeping businesses, accounting firms, EA practices, payroll practices, client accounting services (CAS) businesses, advisory practices, and fully virtual firms. CPA Acquire is software-agnostic — any practice-management or accounting stack is welcome.
Yes. Anyone can browse anonymous listing previews, filter them, and read the anonymized summary without an account. Creating an account, building a buyer profile, and drafting a listing are also free. A membership is required only to contact a seller or to publish a listing.
A buyer membership is $49 per month. It unlocks the full detail on every published listing, lets you submit acquisition inquiries and access requests to sellers, gives you a buyer profile that sellers review, and tracks responses in your dashboard. Seller contact details are released only after that specific seller approves you.
A seller membership is $99 per month. It lets you publish one active confidential listing, receive inquiries from subscribed buyers, review each buyer's profile, and approve or decline every introduction yourself. You can pause, edit, or remove the listing at any time.
Yes, at any time, from the Stripe billing portal in your dashboard. Both memberships are monthly and there are no annual plans, minimum terms, or cancellation fees. Your access continues through the period you have already paid for. When a seller membership ends, the listing is hidden from public view but nothing is deleted — resubscribing restores it.
No. Everything in a buyer profile — CPA licensure, firm ownership, budget, and funding — is self-reported by the buyer and is not verified by CPA Acquire. We do not check licenses with state boards, confirm proof of funds, or run identity checks, and we display no 'verified' badges. Sellers should treat buyer profiles as claims to confirm during their own diligence.
No. An admin reviews each listing before publication to check that it follows the confidentiality rules — no firm name, address, client names, or personal information. That review is a moderation step, not verification of financials, ownership, or any other claim.
No. CPA Acquire makes the introduction and nothing more. Diligence, negotiation, financing, legal documents, client-consent and transfer issues, regulatory compliance, escrow, and closing are handled entirely by the buyer, the seller, and their own advisors.
No. CPA Acquire does not sell featured placement, promotion, ranking, or advertising of any kind. Listings appear in the order the person browsing chose — there is no paid tier that changes it.
