Tax Practices
Confidential listings of individual and business tax preparation and planning practices, often with strong seasonal recurring clients.
Tax practices are valued heavily on client retention, the mix of individual (1040) versus business (1120/1065) returns, average fee per return, and how concentrated the work is in the filing season. Buyers also look closely at software (and how transferable the workpapers are) and at whether the practice carries any off-season bookkeeping or advisory revenue.
Every listing here is confidential. You will see return counts, average fees, revenue, and transition terms before you ever learn the firm's name — that is released only if and when the seller approves your access request.
CPA Acquire is a directory only. It does not value practices, negotiate price, or manage the transaction; buyers and sellers do that independently with their own advisors.

Tax-practice listings never include client names, SSNs, EINs, prior-year returns, or any client-level records. Do not upload returns or client files to the directory — CPA Acquire is not a data room.
Plain-English background — not legal, tax, CPA, or valuation advice.
You can list a tax practice confidentially on CPA Acquire. Create a blind listing describing the practice (return volume, revenue, service mix, region, transition terms) without revealing your firm name or client identities, submit it for review, and approve which buyers may see additional detail. Sellers pay a flat subscription to list — there are no success fees or commissions.
Tax practices generate most revenue from preparing and planning returns, with a strong seasonal peak around filing deadlines and project-style billing per return. Bookkeeping practices generate recurring monthly fees for ongoing transaction processing and reconciliations, producing smoother, more predictable revenue across the year. Many firms do both; the revenue-mix percentages on each listing show the balance.
A confidential (or 'blind') listing describes a practice for sale without revealing the owner's identity, firm name, exact address, client names, or any client PII. Buyers see high-level teaser information — practice type, region, revenue range, service mix, and deal preferences — and request gated access. The seller decides, at their sole discretion, who is approved to see additional detail.
No. CPA Acquire is a listing directory only. It does not broker transactions, represent buyers or sellers, negotiate terms, recommend buyers or sellers, provide valuation advice, prepare transaction documents, hold funds, provide escrow, or facilitate closings. Buyers and sellers connect through the directory and then handle diligence, negotiation, financing, compliance, and closing independently with their own advisors.
